Lost

Did you lose what won't return?
Did you love but never learn?

He looks around, stunned by what he had just heard.
It had never been a possibility, the thought had never occurred to him.

The fire's out but still it burns,
And no one cares, there's no one there.

His legs give way, and he falls to the ground suddenly.
Nothing could have prepared him for this.

Did you find it hard to breathe?
Did you cry so much that you could barely see?

He had just finished getting the surprise ready.
The perfectly set table looked empty now.

You're in the darkness all alone,
And no one cares, there's no one there.

He can see her picture on the table;
The flickering candlelight gives it a haunted look.

But did you see the flares in the sky?
Were you blinded by the light?

He's shocked beyond belief,
The last thing he remembered was the picture of her.

Did you feel the smoke in your eyes?
Did you? Did you?

He wakes up at dawn,
It takes a few minutes for it to sink in.

Did you see the sparks filled with hope? You are not alone,
Cause someone's out there, sending out flares.

He slowly gets up and looks around,
The candle had burnt itself out.

Did you break but never mend?
Did it hurt so much you thought it was the end?

Light rays of sunlight brighten the day outside,
The curtains are drawn, there's darkness inside.

Lose your heart, but don't know when
And no one cares, there's no one there.

Flares-The Script (the stuff in italics)
I came up with the rest.

Hope.

I had a dream last night.
You weren't in it.
It was a different face.
A new face, a face I didn't recognize.

I'm being patient.
God lets everything happen for the best.
But the new face?
It represents hope, and a new world of possibilities.

It's nice, to be able to smile, while hoping for the best.
It's amazing, to be able to sing along with my old favorite songs, and not see your face everywhere.
But, there is no true despair, without hope.
Even so, I'm not afraid. Life brings its challenges, and the only way to beat them is to meet them head-on.

Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength, while loving someone deeply gives you courage.-Lao Tzu.

The flag, of the crescent, and the star.

My homesickness gets worse with every day.
It's not about the food anymore, or the atmosphere.

It's like.. feeling empty.
Feeling far away.

It's not about any people anymore, either.

It's like a dream, a far off dream, a day that I'm waiting for, but the day isn't coming anytime soon.

I've been listening to the national anthem on repeat for the last few hours, and it doesn't make it any better.

I can close my eyes, and imagine being back home, imagine every step that I take, and almost be able to.. feel the experience.

It's time to go back to being super busy and not having time to miss home.
It's the only thing that works.

A little longer.

He can almost see it, he knows he's almost there.

He reaches out, but there's nothing.

He opens his eyes.

There was never anything there, except an illusion.
